Mark 13:32-37 (KJV)
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man,
no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. 33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. 34 For the
Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave
authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35 Watch ye
therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at
midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, watch.
Matthew 24:37-42 (KJV)
But as the
days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For
as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and
drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe
entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the
flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of
man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one
shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall
be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the
other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour
your Lord doth come.
Matthew 24:45-47 (KJV)
Who then
is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his
household, to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is
that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47 Verily
I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
Gleanings from the Verses
Above
We
can find the following issues and the questions we have to answer:
- The Son of Man left His house, gave
authority to his servants; to every man His work and commanded
the Porter to watch. Jesus has given each one of us His
work to do in His house.
- The question: Is this what we are spending 100% of our time doing? To every man, a work has been given with authority to do it and a porter who will give an account of us to the Master at His coming, is watching. This is going to be sudden. Let Him not find you sleeping.
- During the days before the flood, men were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day the flood came, and it took them all away.
- The question: What is
taking away my time and attention? What are the distractions in my life
now? Am I engaged with the work of the Master or the work of my employer
(Money)? You cannot serve God and Money together. “No one can serve two
masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will
be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and
money. Matthew 6:24 (NIV)
- Then shall two be in the field (two
full time servants; labourers in the Lord’s house); the one shall be
taken, and the other left. Why? Because one’s attention is
full and the other’s attention is divided. The question: Are you
really a full-time or part-time labourer because your attention is
divided?
- Two women shall be grinding at the mill (two labourers at the work place, either in business or at the place of employment); the one shall be taken, and the other left behind. Why? Because one is rightly positioned by God, the other is positioned by SELF.
- The question: Where you are or what
you are doing at the moment - who placed you there? Jesus Christ or
yourself?
- Who then is a faithful and wise servant whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing. The question: Are you doing this or are you too busy doing something else?
- Take ye heed, watch and pray for ye know not when
the time is. This counsel from Jesus Christ to us which is why we
have to pray now.
Draw me nearer, nearer blessèd Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessèd Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
Prayers:
- Dear Father, unto Thy hands I
commit myself once again; I have heard Your Word; I have heard Your voice
and have come to You for help. Please Lord, draw me nearer; interrupt me
Lord, if I have been wrongly positioned, in Jesus’ name.
- Disengage me, O Lord, from
every work you have not given me that I am doing at the moment and
reposition me back to Your will and purpose for my life in Jesus’ name.
- Anything You need to do, O
Lord, to bring me back to Your ordained assignment for me in Your house,
please do it, in Jesus' name.
- Divinely interrupt me, O Lord,
like You did to king Saul, Paul and Your disciples, because I do not want
to miss Your coming, in Jesus’ name.
- Please make me Your wise,
obedient and faithful servant, in Jesus’ name.
- Thank You Lord for hearing my prayers for in Jesus’ name I have prayed. Amen.
