The Elder Brother Syndrome

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Monday 11.30am-2.30pm (UK time)

The elder brother syndrome| Luke 15:28-30

He was angry, presumptuous, arrogant, proud, an inflated sense of his own importance in the house.
He was full of criticism, blaming, accusing, imputing, pointing accusing fingers at his brother.
He was self-righteous, obnoxious, insufferable and intolerable.
He thought he was blameless, without any sin, faultless, irreproachable.
He thought he deserved and had earned his place and position in the Father's house.
He thought he had worked hard as a good son, hence his Father must bless him and he must be the only one that will inherit the kingdom now.
He does not realise that the he is enjoying the goodness, magnanimity, the benevolence, the compassion, the kindness, the love of the Father.
He thought he had jurisdiction over the Father's love.
He thought he was a custodian of the Father’s love.
He is also a prodigal; he stood outside the house accusing the Father.

WHO WANTS TO LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSE AS A BROTHER LIKE THIS?

Another look at the Father

Genesis 20:1-8
       Esau & Jacob
Malachi 1-3

       The thief on the cross
Luke 23:39-43
JUST TO NAME A FEW. How about you? How about me? Are we basking, living, breathing and having our being in the love of the Father?
He who makes the rain to shine upon the just and the unjust.
He is kind, loving, tender, caring, benevolent, gentle, kind-hearted and generous.

The Father proclaims His name before you today.

Exodus 34:5-8
And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed:
The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.

Prayer points| Let us fall down before our Father

Let us begin to worship Him, our Father, our Daddy, our God.
Let us fall down before Him adoration, let us worship at His feet.
Our Father, merciful, gracious, and compassionate God.
Slow to anger, rich in in steadfast love and truth.
Endlessly patient, loyal in love for a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin.
He never bears a grudge, neither does He remain angry forever.
Of His fullness we have received and enjoyed, grace for grace.
He will by no means clear the guilty, yet He made a way to do so through the death of His son.
Go ahead this morning, this afternoon, this evening or whenever and wherever you are hearing this from and begin to bless Him.

Prayer points | Lord have mercy on me | Romans 2:1-6

Are you an elder prodigal, you have you been around the Father for a long time and yet have not entered into the house through the way of the cross?

I come to the cross, I give you my heart, tear out of my flesh the heart of the elder brother, give me a new heart.
I ask for the miracle of heart transplant this day, Lord, have mercy on me.
Cry out to the Father now and tell Him, Lord forgive me, I am ready to come into the house.

Have you come to the cross and yet you can still see the evidence of the elder brother syndrome in your life?
Rid me of any trace of the elder brother syndrome; deliver me from the spirit of the elder brother.
Lord, dig out every form of critical, judgemental, self-righteous spirit that is still lurking in my life.
It is a deposit of the old man, repent from them today, now is the day for repentance.
Uproot every form of presumption about my status with the Father.
Lord, evacuate any form of insurrection and disobedience that will not accept correction quickly and quietly from our disicplers, from the Lord and others in authority over me.

Lord, bring our prodigals home| Luke 5: 15-24

Luke 15:20, 22-24
But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

The first point to note here is the greatness, tenacity, persistent, magnitude, immensity, of the Father’s love.
Can you see the largeness, of the Father’s heart?

But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet, and bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Can you see the magnanimity, the benevolence, the compassion, the kindness of the Father?
Can you see that the heavenly Father desires His prodigals back home more than any of us can?
Can you see that His heart is burdened more for His prodigals than ours?
Can you see Him day in day out, hoping , praying, looking out for to see then coming in the horizon?

BE ENCOURAGED BRETHREN , BE CONFIDENT IN THIS ONE THING ;THE FATHER DESIRES TO SEE ALL YOUR PRODIGALS HOME AND HE WILL NOT REST UNTIL EVERY ONE OF THEM RETURNS.

Prayer points

Lord, please let your love be shed abroad into the hearts again by the Holy Ghost.

When the Lord Comes...

 MARANATHA! COME LORD JESUS! 1 Peter 4; 2 Peter 3; 1 Peter 5

When the Lord comes, His desire is for all who cry “Maranatha!” to be ready and eagerly waiting to go with Him to His Father’s house.

John 14:2-3 “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Be serious and watchful
1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.”
  • Lord – Help me to know that the end of all things is near.
  • Reveal to me, the magnitude of the mercy I received at Calvary so that I can be serious and watchful.

Be mindful
2 Peter 3:2-4a that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Saviour, 3knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? …”
  • Lord – Help me by Your Spirit to be mindful of Your words and commandments, and take practical steps to obey, knowing that You are not slack concerning His promise. 2 Peter 3:9.
  • Let alarm bells ring in me when scoffers come to pollute my mind with fragmented gospel and lies. Silence every voice contrary to the full gospel.

1 Peter 4:1-3 “Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.”
  • Help me by Your Spirit to arm myself with the mind of Christ.
  • Bring me into this ‘suffering in the flesh’ that makes me cease from sin.
  • Break down every stronghold in my mind that binds me to lusts of the flesh and obscures the will of God.

Be diligent
2 Peter 3:10, 14 “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.”
“14Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;”
  • Lord – Establish it in me that heaven and earth will pass away - everything will be burned up.
  • As I wait for these things to happen, make me diligent to be found by You in peace - the peace that is upon all those who follow the rule of the new creation. Gal 6:15-16.
  • Give me a fresh revelation of the mechanisms of my deliverance at the cross. I died – old man passed away; sinful habits passed away; sinful habitat passed away. I live – I was given the spotless and blameless life of Christ and translated inside Him.
  • Grant me the grace to allow the new man to live His spotless and blameless life in me.

Be humble
1 Peter 5:5-6 “Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”
  • Lord –Expose every prideful way in me. I do not want to hide under fig leaves (e.g. my gifts, my experience, my belongings, my family background).
  • Bring me to understand that You resist the proud.  I want to be part of the ingathering and it will not include the proud.
  • Affect my heart with Your Word unto repentance. Help me to humble myself in Your sight, and You will lift me up. James 4:10.
  • Help me to submit to my elders in humility to be discipled into Christ.
  • Have mercy on me, O Lord!

When the Lord comes, may I be found serious, watchful, mindful, diligent and humble.

A Maranatha Crier's Life

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Monday 11.30am-2.30pm (UK time)

MARANATHA! COME LORD JESUS! Zephaniah 1:14-18, Acts 2:1-17

One who cries "Maranatha" is aware, sensitive and alert to God's warnings about the 'Day of the Lord', the day of terror.

* End times pre-rapture (our present situation)
* End times at tribulation
* End times at final judgement

These all flow into each other because they are continuations. He/she is sensitive to know but not be part of it. He/she seeks to go the opposite direction- the direction of the Lord. He/she seeks cover and protection from the great day of the Lord. He/she's aware there are always two sides to prophesy and seeks to be on the blessed, not the cursed side.

Acts 2:1-4. He tarries in prayer till he receives the Holy Spirit, the Seal and Driver of the divine life in him.
Lord, baptise me, immerse me, endue me with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:4-13. He boldly speaks the wonderful works of God via his life and words in the different situations he finds himself in- the different languages of life.
Lord, grant me boldness to stand up for Jesus in all situations- before men, before sin and habits of life, before mammon, before my children, before the system, before anyone, or anything!

Acts 2:14-15. He pursues the unity of the faith and stands with the leaders to sound the same alarm and blow the same trumpet of the full Gospel- Peter with the 11, Gideon with the 300.
Lord, help me keep the unity of the faith in the bond of the Holy Spirit and of peace. Let my life reflect the unity of the Trinity, not the discord of the enemy.

Acts 2:16. He is sensitive to God's Word and he can connect different parts to make a whole. He interprets God's dealings with him in the light of God's Word. He is not careless with his encounters with God's Word. "This is that which was spoken by Joel..."
Lord, make me sensitive to Your Word and help me connect everything You are saying to me to make a completeness that leads me to Your purpose for my life.
Don't let my life be aimless and purposeless due to lack of sensitivity to Your Word.

Acts 2:17. He quickly keys into the blessed side of prophesy and he keeps knocking till the door of that blessedness opens to him. He does not give up till he enters.
* God pours out His Spirit on him.
* He prophesies
* He sees visions
* He dreams dreams
He quickly throws away any habit that would rob him of this blessedness.
Lord, give me grace to say "NO" to evil habits of life, harmless as they may seem.

He presses on the Holy Spirit to keep him in this blessedness and grows his roots in it for as long as he lives. He seeks to know nothing among men except Christ crucified.
Lord, Make me rooted in Christ all my days. Don't let me be porous and leaky. Establish me in this blessedness.

He dwells in the fear of the Lord so he is free from the fear of God's judgement.
Lord, teach me the fear of the Lord so I can dwell in safety and be free from Your terrible judgement.

He cries "MARANATHA" both with his life and with his words.
Lord, let "MARANATHA" become my life, day and night.

MARANATHA!! COME LORD JESUS!!

The Great Day is Near - A Snapshot from Zepheniah

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Monday 11.30am-2.30pm (UK time)

A SNAPSHOT FROM ZEPHANIAH

Zephaniah 1:14-18; Zephaniah 2:1-3; Zephaniah 3:1-2, 14-17
  • Help me to heed your warning about the end times.
  •  Help me not to be rebellious to Your correction, Your word, to Your nudgings.
  •  Help me to understand fully the consequences of my action.
  • Teach me humility in my innermost part.
  • Lord, bend me; Lord, I make a commitment to be bent into following you.
  • Help me to collect my thoughts together, to gather my life together to seek You now that there is still time.
2 Corinthians 5:10-15
  • Persuade me, Holy Spirit of what I believe; persuade me of the power of the gospel; persuade me of the terror of God.
  •  Imprint your terror, the fear of God, the reverential fear of God that will make me walk circumspectly in humility and obedience before You into my heart.
  • Let Your love arrest my heart, let your love constrain me.
  • Let me in turn be able to persuade men.
