2 Thessalonians 1:1-12
Verses 5-10 (Living Bible)
This is only one example of the fair,
just way God does things, for he is using your sufferings to make you ready for
his Kingdom, while at the same time he is
preparing judgment and punishment for those who are hurting you. And
so I would say to you who are suffering, God will give you rest along with us
when the Lord Jesus appears suddenly from heaven in flaming fire with his
mighty angels, bringing judgment on those who do
not wish to know God and who refuse to accept his plan to save them
through our Lord Jesus Christ. They will be punished in everlasting hell,
forever separated from the Lord, never to see the glory of his power when
he comes to receive praise and admiration because of all he has done for his
people, his saints. And you will be among those praising him because you have
believed what we told you about him.
Verses 5-10 (Message)
All this trouble is a clear sign that
God has decided to make you fit for the kingdom. You’re suffering now, but
justice is on the way. When the Master Jesus appears out of heaven in a blaze
of fire with his strong angels, he’ll even up the score by settling accounts
with those who gave you such a bad time. His coming will be the break we’ve
been waiting for. Those who refuse to know God and refuse to obey the Message
will pay for what they’ve done. Eternal exile from the presence of the Master
and his splendid power is their sentence. But on that very same day when he
comes, he will be exalted by his followers and celebrated by all who
believe—and all because you believed what we told you.
THE DAY OF THE LORD: TERRIBLE OR
GLORIOUS - WHICH WILL IT BE FOR ME?
- THIS EXTRAORDINARY DAY IS JUST AHEAD.
- THERE WILL BE JUDGMENT AT CHRIST’S COMING.
- HELL IS REAL- EVERLASTING DESTRUCTION, ETERNAL EXILE, FOREVER SEPARATED FROM GOD.
- ANYONE NOT MADE READY NOW WILL ONLY HAVE THEMSELVES TO BLAME.
- TODAY IS THE DAY TO BEGIN TO MAKE READY. TOMORROW MAY BE TOO LATE.
- NO ONE KNOWS THE DAY, THE TIME OR THE HOUR, BUT THE EVENTS IN OUR WORLD POINT TO THE TRUTH THAT HIS COMING IS IMMINENT.

2 Thessalonians
11-12 (Me & My household)
- Lord, count me worthy of Your calling; don’t let me blame myself or bite my fingers on that day.
- Help me to collect my thoughts together, to gather my life together to seek You now that there is still time.
- Lord, make my life the kind of specie of life You are looking for at Your appearing.
- Lord, make me fit for what You have called me to be.
- Lord, make me fit the pattern of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
- Lord, please help me to make my calling and my election sure.
- Every trace that is not Jesus’s trait that will disqualify me on this day, please Lord, expunge them out of my life.
Will Jesus Find us watching | Frances J. Crosby,
1876
When Jesus comes to reward His servants,
Whether it be noon or night,
Faithful to Him will He find us watching,
With our lamps all trimmed and bright?
o Refrain:
Oh, can we say we are ready, brother?
Ready for the soul’s bright home?
Say, will He find you and me still watching,
Waiting, waiting when the Lord shall come?
Oh, can we say we are ready, brother?
Ready for the soul’s bright home?
Say, will He find you and me still watching,
Waiting, waiting when the Lord shall come?
If, at the dawn of the early morning,
He shall call us one by one,
When to the Lord we restore our talents,
Will He answer thee, “Well done”?
Will He answer thee, “Well done”?
Have we been true to the trust He left us?
Do we seek to do our best?
If in our hearts there is naught condemns us,
We shall have a glorious rest.
Do we seek to do our best?
If in our hearts there is naught condemns us,
We shall have a glorious rest.
Blessed are those whom the Lord finds watching,
In His glory they shall share;
If He shall come at the dawn or midnight,
Will He find us watching there?
In His glory they shall share;
If He shall come at the dawn or midnight,
Will He find us watching there?
