God’s Way Or His Acts Only

Psalm 103:7
He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. NKJV
He revealed His character to Moses and His deeds to the people of Israel. NLT
He revealed His plans to Moses and let the people of Israel see His mighty deeds. GNB
He taught His Law to Moses and showed all Israel what He could do. CEV

God’s method of revealing Himself:

v  Dreams and visions – Numbers 12:6, Gen 15: 1, 46: 2-4.
v  By angelic appearances – Judges 6: 11 ffl, 13: 2-3, 6
v  In the likeness of a man/men – Gen 18: 1-3: There was nothing to suggest that the three men that visited Abraham were of angelic or divine appearance, Abraham’s initial response of worship was just typically of eastern culture of hospitality of that time. (Heb 13:2)
v  Hearing His voice audibly – Num 12: 4-5
v  In various other ways (Heb 1:1), but never face to face like He did with Moses (Num 12: 7-8, Deut 34: 10-12).
  • These are examples of God’s dealings with His people, whereby God finds a man faithful and reveals to such His plans, ways, character, laws etc. Such a one then relates to the people/multitudes who now become recipients of God’s goodness, miraculous occurrences/deliverances.
  • These multitudes only see the acts brought about by the faithfulness of men who have paid the price of walking with God.
  • They are a need-oriented people always looking to the ‘big man of God’ to collect things from God.
  • As they continue to rely on the big man to approach God on their behalf, they never learn to know God for themselves; so that when the man of God is no longer in tune with heaven, their philosophy becomes ‘the end justifies the means’ as long as the ‘provision’ is still coming.
  • Little wonder then that the children of Israel wearied Moses and God with their complainings in the wilderness.
  • How I wish Moses had asked God to also reveal Himself to these people in his passionate appeal to God for himself in Exodus 33: 12-18.
  • Thank God He has spoken and reaveled Himself to us, and still does by His Son in these last days! Heb 1:1.
Ø  We see God in the face of Jesus Christ – 2Cor 4:6
Ø  He is that light that God shined in the darkness in Gen 1:1 and He has shined that same light in our hearts so that we experience His glory much more than Moses did, Hallelujah!!
Ø  Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared God to us – John 1:18
Let us pray:
  • Dear Father God, please continue to shine the light of Jesus Christ in our hearts as we desire to know you more.
  • Precious Holy Spirit, please help me to study the Bible to know GOD and not to get things – 2 Tim 3:7
  • Please LORD, give us and make us leaders who will continue to point us/others to Jesus Christ and not themselves.
  • Give us leaders like the friend of the bridegroom who seeks always to bring the bride to the groom and withdraw as the two have come to know each other intimately.
  • John the Baptist came baptising in order to reveal Jesus to the people (Jn 1:31); he kept pointing the people to Jesus. Lord, please give Your church leaders whose singular purpose in ministry is to connect the people with their Saviour, and not build themselves demagogues.
  • Give those leaders/disciplers who are on track with this vision, the grace and humility to know when their work is done so they can withdraw, learning to ‘bow out when the ovation is loudest,’ amen.
  • Lord, please deliver my soul from impatience and hastiness; help me to learn to wait on/for You to meet my needs so I do not keep going to others for help. (Psalm 37:7, Heb 10: 36) - A fretful, discontented spirit is open to many temptations.
  • Dear Lord Jesus, please give me grace to endure to the end as I await Your coming. COME LORD JESUS!!
